NATAS eLearning Ltd Update: Five Years On RCA member NATAS eLearning Ltd provides a full portfolio of asbestos eLearning courses approved or recognised by such organisations as ASHEeLA, BOHS and IATP. NATAS leads the asbestos awareness training market by way of innovation, namely Natas’ Award winning eLearning courses, compliant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 that provides highly economic, on-demand access, allowing training to be taken precisely when needed. NATAS cultivated eLearning technology and introduced it to the asbestos market in 2007 to provide a solution to increasing demand and limited supply. With an estimated 3 million people requiring asbestos awareness training alone, classroom courses could not provide a solution to achieve this target for many years, even decades, given the limited number of competent trainers. A leading asbestos consultancy involved in the decommissioning of Dounreay is training Highland contractors to safely identify and remove the hazardous material. Natas has been training in the expert abstraction of the hazardous substance from the former nuclear plant in Caithness for the last six years. The Birmingham firm has now established a permanent base at Forss Business & Technology Park, near Thurso, so it can better support Dounreay and deliver its services across the north of Scotland, Highlands and Islands.

NATAS is proud to support The British Lung Foundation’s ongoing ‘Take 5 and Stay Alive’ addresses the risks of Asbestos exposure during DIY activities in the home, via their multi media campaign. ‘’Asbestos first became a popular building material in the 1950s and was used in all sorts of unexpected places until as recently as the late 1990s. Sadly, thousands of people in the UK die from asbestos-related diseases every year, and inhaling the dust can eventually be lethal’’. The campaign aims to highlight the risks and provide an asbestos guide to educate homeowners of the dangers of asbestos, and direct people to the relevant contacts should they feel they may have been exposed.
