Is eLearning a reputable, recognised form of training to ensure that I comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012?
HSE released the below statement with regards to eLearning:
”Online learning (often referred to as eLearning) is increasingly used as a method of providing asbestos awareness training. HSE recognizes the use of eLearning as a viable delivery method, among others, for the delivery of information, instruction and training in relation to asbestos awareness training, provided the course content satisfies the objectives as stipulated in Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and the supporting Approved Code of Practice.”
NATAS’ eLearning courses meet the following specifications;
There are two current asbestos awareness courses available
- Asbestos Awareness
- Asbestos Awareness and Duty to Manage.
Asbestos awareness is for employees who may come into contact with asbestos at work. It is the minimum level of awareness training required within CAR2012.
Asbestos awareness and Duty to Manage is an enhanced course for supervisors and managers who may themselves come into contact with asbestos and/or who supervise or manage employees or non-employees who may come into contact with asbestos. This course includes asbestos awareness as above.
