The course also teaches students what to do if they accidentally disturb asbestos and the emergency procedures they should follow.
Non-Licensed Asbestos Training
Non-licensed asbestos Training is for those who may disturb low-risk asbestos-containing materials during their work and may be expected to remove, handle, paint or drill into asbestos-containing materials.
The training includes practical steps for safe handling, removal, and disposal of asbestos waste, RPE & PPE, Decontamination and Safe removal & drilling techniques. It also covers emergency procedures in case of accidental exposure.
This training is ideal for maintenance workers, engineers, demolition workers, and those involved in refurbishments where asbestos might be present but in non-friable forms. Also electricians, heating engineers, and roofing contractors.
Non-licensed training is a 1-Day Training course, the initial training must be undertaken face to face as candidates are required to undertake a practical assessment.
The training certificates expire after 12 months and to continue working with asbestos after this 12 months, the training must be refreshed annually. This can be done in a classroom, virtually or via eLearning.
Licensed Asbestos Training
Licensed Asbestos Training designed for those who will be working directly with high-risk asbestos materials. This type of asbestos removal requires a license from HSE. The type of companies that hold a license for the removal of asbestos are called Licensed Asbestos Contractors.
There are 3 levels of training for Licensed Asbestos Workers which include:
- Asbestos Manager (2 Day)
- Asbestos Supervisor (2 Day)
- Asbestos Operative (3 Day)
It covers in-depth techniques for the safe removal, encapsulation, removal techniques and disposal of asbestos waste. Use of Decontamination Units, Asbestos Enclosures, and Site Safety. The course also includes respiratory protective equipment (RPE) training and decontamination procedures.

Refresher Training
