Who is this course suitable for?

Our Legionella Awareness training course aims to help duty holders to understand how legionella bacteria are formed. It will teach you how people are exposed to and contract illnesses associated with Legionella bacteria, as well as how to know where Legionella bacteria is found. You will also learn how to assess the premises so that suitable control measures can be implemented.

Course Outline

The Legionella Training Course is divided into the following sections:

  • Section 1 – What is legionella?:This section will help students learn about Legionella and the possible health
    effects from exposure.
  • Section 2 – Your Legal Responsibilities: This section will help students understand the legal responsibilities of
    controlling and monitoring legionella.
  • Section 3 – Where can legionella be found?: This section gives students knowledge on the everyday environments legionella
    may be found.
  • Section 4 – Legionella Risk Assessments: This section will help students understand how to carry out risk assessments.
  • Section 5 – Controlling the Risks: The final section teaches students about managing the risks from Legionella, and
    understand the control limits.

What is the pass mark for the assessment?

The pass mark is 80%

Delegates must obtain 80% to pass the course online, which is the equivalent of 2 wrong answers. Any delegates that did not obtain 80% have 3 attempts to resit and pass the course, delegates that have no passed after 3 attempts must purchase an additional license

Multiple choice final assessment. Upon completing the final assessment, students will be provided with Legionella and Legionnaires
Disease Awareness Certification, approved by ROSPA and recognised by the HSE.

Course timing

This course will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
The legionella awareness training course is designed to follow and complete each section before moving to the next. Students can go back and review completed sections at any time.
