WHY IS ASBESTOS DANGEROUS?

Asbestos comprises tiny fibres that can be inhaled when airborne, leading to serious illness. The fibres are made airborne when the asbestos is disturbed. Therefore, asbestos must be identified and handled carefully with the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). The health risks of asbestos are so severe that the UK banned its use in 1999.

Learn more about the dangers of asbestos in our handy online guide.

WHY IS ASBESTOS SURVEYOR TRAINING IMPORTANT?

Minimising asbestos exposure is vital as disturbing asbestos can lead to health conditions for those working with the material. Millions of buildings and facilities across the UK contain the material meaning employees across various industries risk potential exposure to Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). Therefore, proper asbestos training is essential to determining the presence of asbestos. Asbestos sampling enables workers to understand the materials they are working with and navigate the risks accordingly.
